November 12, 1929 – September 14, 1982
Grace Patricia Kelly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania November 12, 1929. Her dream was to become an actress someday. Grace did some modeling before making her Broadway debut in 1949.
In 1951 at the age of 22 she starred in her first motion picture Fourteen Hours followed by High Noon with Gary Cooper. In High Noon she was spotted by Alfred Hitchcock who later gave her the roles in such classics as Dial M For Murder, Rear Window ( a favorite of mine) and To Catch A Thief. She was lucky enough to act with two of my favorite actors James Stewart and Cary Grant.
After her last role in 1956's High Society Grace married a man she had met named Prince Rainier Of Monaco. After becoming a Princess she gave up her career. Grace had 3 children with the Prince and lived the perfect fairytale life until tragically being killed in a car accident in 1982.
Grace Kelly was gone way too soon. But her memory lives on today in her movies and beautiful photographs. She was a class act and I'm sure she is missed by all who loved her. Today is her birthday and I celebrate her life and accomplishments. RIP Grace Kelly, you are truly another gorgeous angel in the sky.
Awesome post Winona. Grace is one of my favorite actresses ever.
ReplyDeleteGrace Kelly is AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteOn my 'top list' for SURE! (of course, I have a 'TIP-top list' with only one name on it, which I figure is pretty easy for y'all to figure out...:-] ) but, GK was sheer elegance and beauty... wish she made more movies, but hopefully her life with Rainier was a happy one before its tragic end...
Thanks for the post, SCD!!! Hope you are doing well! AND, those Ginger drawings from GF11 were unbelieveable! You need to sign her up for some kind of 'advanced-uber-mondo' art program... she has got 'IT'!!!
KIG!
