A snow day in 2009

By the end of the year here in Texas we finally were able to enjoy some cooler weather. I grew up in California where we actually had seasons. The weather was dry and beautiful. My favorite holidays were Spring and Winter. I was a happy girl. When I moved to Texas I realized I had it better then I thought. Here most of the year it's hot and humid. Never a break. I miss home often and 2009 was no exception. It was a year of ups and downs and I didn't get to go back to California for the winter holidays this time around. My only wish was to have a cold Christmas. I'm happy to say I got my way. A little before though we had a surprise. A snow day! WOW! I was so excited and giddy like a little child. Due to my computer problems I was never able to post any pictures so I wanted to do a quick post real quick and share some memories of that fabulous day. So here we go...The princess and little monkeys had so much fun. It was freezing!!! I loved it. Christmas came and went and although I missed being at my Mom's house in California, my sweet tarts enjoyed it and got everything from Santa on their list. For the rest of the month into January I have enjoyed a lot of really cold days (more then usual) but we never had the snow again which I was sad about. Also, we lost our two fish in our outside pond. My Lucy and Ricky froze to death because they were not use to the freezing weather. They had been back there since 1998 and that was really sad for me. Now the warmer weather seems to have come back in the past week but the memories of my third winter in Texas was memorable to say the least.

  3. Yeah usually in north Texas but not down in the southern part. It was nice, but I wish we could have had a couple more days like that when the temps were so low. But oh well it was nice and my kids got to see it for the first time.

  4. Glad to have found you. Saw you stopped by the garden bells... Hope you don't mind if I follow and peak around here a little...

  5. Glad to see you and the kids had a great time! I am in the same boat over in Cental Alabama - we get 'appreciable' snow, oh, once every 5 years or so... it was supposed to snow 3-4 inches a couple of weeks ago when the big front came thru, but was just a light dusting... sorry about your fish - always a downer to lose pets of any type.

BTW, Marie, does L.A. stand for Lower Alabama? :-)
