John Denver was a wonderful singer and songwriter. He had a beautiful voice and love for life, poetry and nature. This was portrayed in every tune he sang and played. I have enjoyed John’s music ever since I was a little girl. Annie’s Song is my favorite. There are certain times when you are so sad to learn of someone’s passing and this was a time for me. Gone way too soon and I believe he had so much more to accomplish and create. So tragic, but I feel incredibly blessed that John Denver left behind such a magical legacy that will exist till the end of time. 13 years ago today the world became a little less bright. RIP John Denver. Play one for the angels.
I love his music! It was always a great Muppet Show when he was on! Good of you to remember him!

...John Denver was an awesome talent, period. He got a lot of 'flak' or whatever for being a bit too 'folksy', and maybe 'enviromentally friendly WAY before it was the 'norm', but, to be blunt, he was laughing all the way to the bank...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I remember 'Rocky Mountain High' was in regular 'rotation' on the AM radio... yes, they actually played MUSIC on AM in those days, and FM was still pretty 'experimental' at that point! Anyway, just really dug that tune, it sounded so different than anything else at the time... although it was a pretty simple harmony, just sounded...cool. Goes to show that a lot of times quality trumps quantity...
And his first 'Greatest Hits' LP was one of the very first LPs I owned, when I was 6 or 7... and I wore it out!
Was so sad how he perished... would probably still be around, cranking out tunes.
Thanks, SCD!!!
